Three Chelsea academy graduates likely to break into the first team this season.
Chelsea academy continue to supply first team with Great talents every season.
Chelsea FC academy have been producing world class talents,who either break into Chelsea first team or secure moves where they develop into football stars. Chelsea currently first team captain Recce James is a product of Chelsea academy. After Mauricio Pochettino was appointed as the new Chelsea Head Coach, most Chelsea academy players were pleased with his appointment as he has a reputation to promote talented academy player into the first team and develop them into super stars. He promoted a young inexperienced Harry Kane into Tottenham Hotspur first team and turned him one of the best Forward in the world.
Trevor Chalobah and Recce James have established themselves as senior first team players from the academy, the following players hope to replicate them and break into Chelsea first team this season;
Levi Colwill.
The 20yrs old English defender spent last season on loan at Brighton, where he was able to develop into one of the best young defenders in the league. After his one year long loan deal expired with Brighton, Levi Colwill returned back to Chelsea and was part of Mauricio Pochettino squad that went on USA preseason tour. He was integral for Mauricio Pochettino side which won the inaugural summer series tournament after beating London Rivals Fulham.Levi Colwill has extended his Chelsea contract, after agreeing a six years deal which will see him earn €120,000 per week.
Levi Colwill will play a great role in this new young Chelsea team under Mauricio Pochettino. Colwill will hope to follow into Chelsea Legend John Terry shoes after taking the legendary number 26 jersey.
Ian Maatsen.
After spending last season on loan with Burnley where he helped them win promotion to premier league. The Dutch Left Back was very crucial for Vincent Kompany’s side where he scored 6 goals assisting 5 from left the left back position.During the USA preseason tour Ian Maatsen was a surprise standout from the youthful Chelsea side. The 21 yrs old Ducth International, impressed Mauricio Pochettino who converted him to right winger. Maatsen would soon repay his managers trust by scoring two goals in a friendly match against Wrexham in the preseason. Maatsen is versatile, energetic and quick and press hard which Make him tick well with Mauricio Pochettino playing style. Maatsen will be a great addition to Mauricio Pochettino side considering his ability to play different positions.
Armando Broja.
Last season was Armando Broja chance to break into Chelsea first team, after a productive loan spell with Southampton. The dream season for Armando Broja would soon turn into nightmare after he reptured his anterior cruciate ligament, where he underwent surgery and was sidelined for more than 6months. Armando is back to full training after a successful rehabilitation. New Chelsea signing Christopher Nkunku was injured in a friendly match against Borrusia Dortmund and will be out until December. Chelsea are unwilling to invest on a new striker, hence an opportunity for Broja to break into Chelsea first team.
Mason Burstrow is another academy prospect who could break into Chelsea first team this season. The 20yrs old striker will be part of Chelsea squad this season after impressing Mauricio Pochettino.
