Brighton set to sign Lokonga from Arsenal on a loan deal with option of a permanent deal.
Brighton are On the transfer market for a new defensive midfielder, after selling Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a British record transfer fee. Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for the Belgian Midfielder, who spent the second leg of the premier league season on loan at Crystal Palace. Lokonga made 9 appearances for crystal Palace in the Premier league last season.
Mikel Arteta have great depth in the defensive midfielder position. Declan Rice arrival and January signing Jorginho from Chelsea have pushed Lokonga down to the pecking order for Mikel Arteta defensive midfield options. A loan move to Brighton will be the best option for the young talented Belgian to develop under Roberto Dezerbi.
Brighton were interested in signing Lille’s defensive midfielder Carlos Baleba but the deal is stalling as the both clubs are falling to agree the transfer fees. Lille values the 19yrs old Cameroonian at €25m but Brighton are unwilling to meet their valuation. Baleba was promoted to Lille first team last season and made 20 appearances across all competitions.
