Roberto Mancini will become the new Saudi Arabia national team manager until June 2027. Mancini replaced Hervé Renard who left the team after the world cup to join the french women team. Mancini will earn €50m annually.
Mancini left his post as Italy national team manager this summer after five years with the team. Mancini guided Italy national team to their second ever European Championship at the Euro 2020. Mancini side were unbeaten from October 2018 to October 2021, where they went a run of 37 matches without defeat to set a world record. Luciano Spalletti replaced Roberto Mancini as the new Italy national team manager.
Roberto Mancini appointment is accordance to Saudi Arabia vision 2030. Saudi vision is to transform Saudi Arabia into a leading football nation by investing in infrastructure,local talent development while creating a strong football ecosystem that produces great football talents among the Saudi population. Saudi Arabia have qualified for two consecutive world cup tournament in a row, under Roberto Mancini Saudi Arabia aims to compete rather than being participants.
Saudi Arabia also aims to enhance a professional league in the country known as the Saudi pro league. The plan focuses on improving the quality of the league, attracting international players and coaches and increase the competitiveness of Saudi clubs in regional and global competitions.A competitive league will help produce great talents for the national team. Saudi clubs have already signed Christiano Ronaldo, Benzima, Neymar and many others professional players from European leagues.
Roberto Mancini was also a partner coach with Mahd sports Academy which focuses on discovering and develop local Saudi talents.
