Breaking News: Wests Tigers Confirmed the signings of Three New NRLW
Ahead of the 2024 Telstra Women’s Premiership, the Wests Tigers have revealed the signing of three more elite NRLW players.
Claudia Nielsen, a former Rugby 7s player, Harmony Crichton, and strong forward Natasha Penitani are among the 22 players who have joined the team.
This year, Crichton (shown left) competed for Wests Tigers in the NSW Women’s Premiership and the Tarsha Gale Cup.
The gifted athlete Nielsen, on the right, has achieved success in a number of sports, including hockey.
A very athletic outside back from Tamworth, she is also finishing her degree as a doctor of veterinary medicine.
“This is a new chapter for me, and I’m really excited about the opportunity,” Nielsen remarked.
“The Wests Tigers have an amazing women’s program, first-rate facilities, and genuine concern for our growth as players.”
Penitani received international recognition in 2023 after spending three seasons as a member of the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership-winning Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. She participated for Tonga in the Pacific Championships with her older sister Tiana.
“I’m really excited about this move, which is a big one for me,” Penitani remarked.
“It was an amazing experience and greatly aided in my player development to play with Tiana with Tonga.
“I suppose there will be an additional family rivalry when we play the Sharks in the upcoming season.”
Crichton is a powerful running center, much like her brother Stephen, who has won three premierships.
The 19-year-old, who recently inked a three-year contract, claims that her brother is her greatest fan.
Crichton stated, “He is my biggest supporter and such a good mentor to me.”
He is someone I’ve always looked up to, and we hang out in the park a lot. The majority of what I know actually comes from the talented Player.
“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity with the Wests Tigers for my first NRLW.”
The 2024 team, according to Wests Tigers NRLW coach Brett Kimmorley, is extremely well-balanced.
He remarked, “We are all really excited about how the squad is coming together, even though it’s still a long way off.”
Similar to our inaugural season, a diverse group of youthful local juniors with a wealth of experience are mixed together.
“I’m thrilled about what Claudia and Natasha offer to the team, and it’s a pleasure to have them join us.
“It’s great to see Harmony locked in for the long term; this is also a big step in her development.”
