Inside Chelsea top stories, several unfolded news have happened some reflecting on injury and team news while others are about transfer and contract extension.

Reece James is back

To start with, Chelsea skipper Reece James is expected to return on this weekend when Chelsea host London rivals Arsenal. The player had suffered a knee injury in the second match of the league and had been out for seven weeks. Chelsea are however cautious of rushing him and the club could prefer starting Malo Gusto who has been under suspension or even Marc Cucurella as an inverted defender as physical fitness is the key ahead of this derby. Axel Disasi and Nicholas Jackson are all fine and Cole Palmer will be assessed further by the club after withdrawing from England U21.

Trevoh Chalobah expected to leave

Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah are believed to have come to an agreement on parting ways in January transfer window as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The defender is aware that his playing time at Chelsea is now in doubts and he has to find another club. Bayern were the leading candidates to sign him but the move collapsed and now the club might push again in January. The player is valued at £25M.

Gallagher open to signing a new contract

Conor Gallagher’s career might take a u turn at Chelsea after the club now considering to open contract extension talks after the player becoming an important part of Mauricio Pochettino squad. The player’s contract runs out this summer and several attempts of selling the player have been made but the player has been firm to fight for his position and is currently the captain amid the absence of James and Chilwell.

Romeo Lavia

The Belgian has yet made his Chelsea debut since his signing from Southampton and after suffering an injury again at Chelsea he was sidelined again until November. The midfielder has denied circulating rumours about him suffering a setback. The player is currently progressing well and he will be ready late November.

Manchester city and West Ham monitoring Maatsen.

Chelsea academy graduate Ian Maatsen has yet to sign a new contract at the club and Manchester city and West Ham are speculating his situation and will try to get his signature after the end of the contract in the summer. Chelsea are clear that it’s either he signs a contract or be sold in January as they don’t want to lose him for free.

Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva has opened up on his contract extension at Chelsea after 2024 and potential return to Fluminese. The player answered by saying he would rather keep quiet at the moment considering that he has a family and it’s about seeing where to finish this beautiful career.
