Chelsea have reached an agreement with Southampton to sign Belgian Midfielder Romeo Lavia on a fee worth £50m. Chelsea already agreed personal deal with the player and will sign a longterm contract at Chelsea. The Blues saw their initial offer turned down by Southampton, who had set a £50m valuation for the Belgian.
Chelsea beat off Liverpool, who were interested to sign the Belgian as Southampton rejected their £45m bid. Chelsea will still continue with Caicedo deal, even after signing Lavia as they plan to pair the Duo in their midfield.
Lavia left premier league champions Manchester City last summer to join Southampton.Chelsea were interested to sign the midfielder in January window transfer but Southampton were relactant to sell at the time as they were fighting relegation.
Lavia arrival will pave way to unsettled Connor Gallagher who will leave Chelsea this summer. Westham United are the favourites to land the England international to replace Declan Rice who left for Arsenal.
