Chelsea injury news updates and return dates.
Chelsea are currently dealing with mounting injury problems early as unexpected this season after Carney Chukuemeka, Reece James and Mudryk recently sustained injuries to join the list of Chelsea’s injury woes. This injuries have led to Mauricio Pochettino not receiving handful welcome to kick-start his Chelsea project with ease as a Chelsea manager.
The latest Chelsea injury news list gives an update that Chelsea currently misses eight players; Chalobah, Broja, Betinelli, Nkunku, Fofana, Mudryk, James and Badiashile. Here is the injury update and possible return dates for the players.
Wesley Fofana
West Fofana on July 18 underwent an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery after that he has begun his recovery and work with the clubs medical department at Cobham in his rehabilitation phase. The player is expected to be out of this season and reportedly return on summer 2024.
Christopher Nkunku
The 25 year old sustained an injury during the preseason match against Dortmund. The player had already showed a good start in his new club until he sustained a knee injury where he underwent an operation and he is set to begin rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department. The player is expected to be out for four months and make a return in December.
Reece James and Carney Chukwuemeka
Reece James at the opening match against Liverpool was substituted in what was thought to be fatigue but in the next training session he sustained a thigh injury which is set to put the player out for almost six weeks. Chukwuemeka is also expected to be out for six weeks before he returns after suffering a knee injury during West Ham defeat and underwent surgery and he is recovering well and is set to begin his rehabilitation with the medical department.
Armando Broja and Benoit Badiashile
These two have already returned to training after suffering a knee and thigh injuries and are at the end stage of rehabilitation programme and are expected to return in couple of weeks time.
Trevoh Chalobah and Mudryk
Trevoh is currently in the process of reconditioning in order to return to team training after sustaining a thigh injury during the preseason fixtures and is expected to return in one month time. Mudryk is the latest to pick up an injury after he sustained a hamstring during training and today the club confirmed he has started the rehabilitation programme. His return date is yet to be revealed by the club.
