Injury Update: Nkunku suffers meniscus damage on his left knee.
Chelsea medical department sources have confirmed that Christopher Nkunku sustained a meniscus damage to his left knee during the preseason friendly against the German side, Borussia Dortmund where the game ended in a one one draw where the player was forced out after being fouled in the penalty area and the player was unable to stand up and continue with the game as he seemed to be in pain and was substituted.
This are not the news Chelsea fans might want to hear as medical sources reports that the player will undergo a surgery for the treatment of his knee and will be out for a couple of months as it’s predicted. We are all gutted for Christopher Nkunku as this is not the start he would have wanted as a Chelsea player after having an impressive preseason where he scored three goals in his six preseason appearances and looked promising in the Chelsea attack.
This injury will impact on Chelsea as Pochettino will be forced to go back to drawing board and rethink on reinforcement to that position before Nkunku returns. Two targets are being targeted by Chelsea on that position and there is a high possibility Chelsea might land on one of them. Mohamed Kudus is on the radar despite Ajax and Brighton agreeing on transfer deal the player is yet to respond to Brighton’s contract proposal as he expects a move to a big club. Michael Olise is the second target and Chelsea are preparing to present a bid to Crystal Palace as the player has already agreed contract terms with Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino will be crucial again in transfer decision in the coming days. We wish you quick recovery Christopher Nkunku.
