Joel and LaVonne Allen, Parents of Bills QB Josh Allen, Die in Horrific Crash
A devastating tragedy has struck the family of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. His parents, Joel and LaVonne Allen, were killed in a car accident late Saturday evening in California, according to a statement released early Sunday by local authorities.
The couple was reportedly traveling home from a charity event when their vehicle was struck head-on by a suspected impaired driver on State Route 33 near Firebaugh. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 10:15 PM but were unable to save the Allens. The driver of the other vehicle is currently in critical condition and under investigation.
Josh Allen, 28, was informed of the heartbreaking news shortly after the Bills’ final team meeting on Saturday night. The quarterback has since left Buffalo to be with his family in California. The Buffalo Bills organization released a statement this morning expressing their deepest condolences and support for Allen and his family during this difficult time.
“We are absolutely heartbroken for Josh and the entire Allen family,” the team said. “Joel and LaVonne were pillars of strength, love, and support—not only to Josh but to everyone who knew them.”
Teammates, fans, and members of the NFL community have begun sharing their support on social media, using the hashtag #AllenStrong in solidarity.
Allen has often credited his parents for his work ethic and resilience, describing them as his “biggest inspiration.” Their sudden passing marks an unimaginable loss for one of the NFL’s brightest stars.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. The team has asked for privacy on behalf of the family as they grieve.
