Juventus stripped off European spot while Chelsea are fined £8.6M by UEFA.
Chelsea and Juventus have fallen in the hands of UEFA as the victims of the harsh punishment imposed to them after irregularities were found on these two clubs after long investigations by European football body UEFA and a verdict was made following the bleaching of the rules by this two teams. Although there are still more clubs in question by UEFA regarding bleach of football rules a decision is yet to be made on them as it’s something that takes time for for a satisfactory judgement to be made.
Last season Serie A side, Juventus were under serious investigation by Italian Football Federation for false accounting. After the investigations conducted on the club by the Italian football federation it was evidenced that the club had controversies in their transfer dealings. This led to the club being deducted ten points in the league after a judgement by court. However, Juventus went on and qualified for Europa conference league even after the point deduction punishment. The clubs punishment didn’t end by docking of points as following the capital gains case UEFA had to make a decision on this bleach in football as and the club has been banned from competing in Europa conference league next season and were fined €20M where €10M will be conditional depending on financial results of the club. Fiorentina will represent Juventus in conference league as it is already confirmed.
Chelsea also found themselves under a heavy fine and agreed to pay a sum of £8.6M to UEFA after they were found to have bleached Financial Fair Play rules under the previous club owner, Roman Abramovic where the club was accused of signing under age to professional football and controversial transactions made by the club. This historic bleach happened between 2012 and 2019. This led to the club being banned from signing players in 2019/20 season but the following year the ban was lifted. After yesterday’s decision from UEFA the club under the new ownership agreed to pay a fee of £8.6M for incomplete financial reporting under Abramovic era. After this Chelsea released a statement regarding this decision and assured that the new ownership will compile with FIFA rules. The club is almost being certainly investigated by the Premier league as well.
