Morocco join Nigeria and S.Africa in the last 16 FIFA women’s world cup.

The Atlas lionesses have made history today as they beat Colombia a goal to nil which have helped them to become runners up in the group ahead of Germany. Anisa Lahmari scored on the first half stopage time after Ghizlane Chebbak failed to convert the penalty and she scored a rebound. This goal was enough to send them to the last 16 for the first time in history . They join Nigeria who finished second behind co-hosts Australia and South Africa who also finished second behind Sweden.

This is the first time three out of four African women teams have advanced to the last sixteen in the history of women’s football in world cup. The last sixteen fixtures involving African teams is that Morocco will face France while South Africa will battle Netherlands. Nigeria commonly known as Super Falcons will take on England who have been on form in this world cup.
