Newcastle United set to sign Lewis Hall on a permanent deal from Chelsea.
Newcastle are on brink of reaching a permanent deal with Chelsea for Lewis Hall, an initial loan deal with obligation to buy for £31m
Chelsea are considering a permanent sale for Lewis Hall after delaying his loan move to Crystal Palace. Newcastle have great interest to sign the 18yrs old defender,but on loan with obligation to buy so as to avoid violating FFP rules after spending big in January window and on the summer transfer window. Lewis Hall signed a six years contract extension with the blues.
Lewis Hall joined Chelsea as a 8yrs boy from Binfield soccer school in 2012. He rose through the ranks of Chelsea academy and signed his first scholarship with Chelsea in the summer of 2021. In the start of 2022/23 Thomas Tuchel promoted him to first team but had to wait until 8th January 2022 to make his senior debut for Chelsea against Chesterfield in a FA cup match at Stamford Bridge. He became the youngest Chelsea player to start a match for Chelsea in FA cup.
Lewis Hall made 10 appearances for Chelsea across all competition Last season for Chelsea.Lewis was also named Chelsea academy player of the year 2023 due to his promising display for both senior team and Chelsea development squad.
Chelsea have four left-backs option this season,Ben Chilwell the favourite, Marc Cucurella to deputize him. Chelsea still have academy graduate Ian Maatsen on their ranks, who really impressed Mauricio Pochettino and is willing to retain him in his squad this season. Chelsea are on discussion to extend Maatsen contract at Chelsea.
Chelsea depth on the left -back position, and also the arrival of new midfielders the other position for Lewis Hall makes it hard for the teenager to have game time at Chelsea. A move to Newcastle is good for him to develop as they are playing Champions League this season.
Eddie Howe is need of young energetic left back this summer to be able to compete for silverware this season. Lewis Hall will develop to one of the best left back under Eddie Howe.
