Official: African Qualifiers Preliminary draw for the 2026 Fifa world cup.
The 2026 Fifa world cup will be one of it’s kind,as it will be hosted across three North American countries,that is USA, Canada and Mexico. Fifa increased the number of teams to Participate from 24 to 32 teams, that means more slots for each continent. 9 teams will qualify directly from the African continent. CAF had to reshape their world cup qualifiers model to accommodate the four increased slots.
In the upcoming African FIFA 2026 qualifiers,there will be nine groups each group has 6 teams.The first team in each group will qualify directly. A tournament will be held by CAF, between the best 4 teams that ranked second in the nine groups so that that the tournament champion qualifies for the the intercontinental play-offs.
The preliminary draw was held today and here are the groups;
