Reece James is a professional footballer who plays as a right back defender for England national team and Chelsea football club on which he is the captain at the club. Reece has been playing for Chelsea since the age of six and has risen through the clubs youth ranks up to the senior team. Reece Lewis James was born in 8 December 1999 in Redbridge, Greater London. He is the second born child among the four children; Joshua, Lauren and Chanelle. His parents Nigel James is of Jamaican descent and his mother Emma James is from England.

Nigel James who is the dad to Reece was a footballer and a certified coach and he is the main man behind the success of Reece and Lauren as professional footballers as he not only played a dad role but also as a coach. At first he played in the striking position as he used to idolise Didier Drogba. His body suited him but later he was moved to midfield due to his defensive abilities but the position was overloaded and was finally moved to right back position where he struggled at first. Reece failed a few contract offers from the club as he had not proven his professionalism to the club until 2017 where he captained Chelsea youth and led them to FA cup win and named academy player of the year.

James had a successful spell at youth level where he won the under 18 premier league and under 21 as well also winning the FA and UEFA youth cup. In the 2018/19 season he was sent on loan to Wigan Athletic after signing a four year contract at Chelsea where he impressed a lot and won three awards he made 45 appearances for the club and scored three goals providing 7 assist. He made his debut for Wigan on 4 August where he started the match in a 3-2 victory against Sheffield Wednesday.

On Jan 16 2020 he signed a contract extension with Chelsea and scored his first premier league goal on 14 Sept 2020 in a 3-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion. James was key player to Chelsea champions league triumph in Porto against Manchester City where they won 1-0 and added two more major trophies; the Super cup and FIFA club world cup. James marked his 150 appearance for Chelsea on 28 Oct 2023 against Brentford where Chelsea lost 2-0.

Reece James signed a six year contract extension at Chelsea on 5 September 2022 and afterwards he has experienced injury crisis but he is ok now.

Reece James has represented England national team in under 18, 19 and 21 level.
