Spain and Japan advance to the FIFAWC quarter finals.
Spain and Japan are through to the quarter finals in ongoing fifa women’s world cup after beating Switzerland and Norway respectively. The two countries were grouped in the same group in the tournament where Japan led the group unbeaten and Spain finished as runners up in the group.
Spain’s progress to the quarter finals is a history that has been made in in the spain women’s football as it’s their first time to advance to the quarter finals from the round of 16. Spain got their way after thrashing Switzerland five goals to one after an emphatic first have which witnessed Spain scoring four goals and Switzerland managing to score one. They will meet the winner between Netherlands and South Africa in the quarter finals.
Japan also have grabbed their quarter finals ticket after beating Norway three goals to one. Japan have been on form in the fifa women’s world cup as they have four wins out of four games played. Thanks to second half goals from Shimizu and Miyazawa which secured them a win after one one level in the first half. Being the only Asian country left they hope to progress to the semis as their current form is unstoppable. They will meet the winner between Sweden and USA in the quarter finals.
