Deivid Washington is professional footballer who plays as a forward for an English club based in London, Chelsea Football Club. The player was confirmed as a Chelsea player on 24 August after the club reached an agreement transfer fee of £17M with Brazilian side Santos. The player penned down a seven year contract with the London side with an option to extend one more year.

Biography

Born Deivid Washington de Souza Eugênio, he is commonly known as Deivid Washington. He was born in Itumbiara in Goias state. The Brazilian was born on 5th June 2005 and is the first born to Lucia Elaine and Francisco Carlos. Washington has one sister Ana Julia whom they have harboured a deep affection of brother to sister love cohesion. Notably from a young age Deivid and Ana spent time together and developed a joint hobby creating a tradition that contributed to their close knit relationship.

Deivid Washington father worked as a sprayer operator where his skilled labour involved applying various treatment like pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. He ensured that his family met all the basic needs.

Education

The footballer boasts an education that extends up to High School. At Santos, the club has strict rules that all young players should complete their high school education.

Career

Deivid Washington football career began at age of two years where his love for football started when he first kicked the ball at this age. The player has always looked forward to his idol Pele and has always dreamt of emulating him for a successful football career. Despite Deivid’s father not playing football the player inherited his football genes from her mother who used to play Futsa.

At age of 8 Deivid joined Gremio football club but his time spell at this club wasn’t one to boast but it played a big part to a positive direction of his career. At Gremio he was able to attract former Brazilian national team player Marcos Assunção who introduced him to Santos football club which is based in Sao Paulo.

At the age of 16 after making an impression at under seventeen, he signed his first professional contract with Santos which as reported included a release clause of R$ 100M which tied him to the club for three years.

Club honours at Santos

The player made nine appearances in the senior team and managed to score two goals in 2023. He made his professional debut on 11 April 2023 and was part of the squad for the 2023 Copa Sudamericana. On April 17 he renewed his contract until April 2026.

At Santos Youth club Deivid was the top scorer in under 17 in the Campeonato Paulista competition scoring 16 goals and also scoring six goals in the Campeonato Brasileiro under 17.

The player won the under 20 Campeonato Paulista with Santos youth team in 2022.

Chelsea career

Deivid was signed by Chelsea during the 2023 summer transfer window at a fee of £17M from Santos after scouts were sent to scout him in Brazil. The player signed a seven year contract with an option to extend one more year. The player has yet to make an appearance at Chelsea senior team but he has been unused substitute in the match games.

However the player has made two appearances at Chelsea youth team and has scored one goal.
