Career build up
Moscardo started his football career at Atleta Cidadao back in 2015 but only stayed there for a period close to two years before joining the youth ranks of Brazilian third successful club, Corinthians. Subsequently, he made vast progress in the youth ranks and at 17 he has already made a breakthrough to the first team and is now being considered among the brightest talents the club has produced.
Gabriel Moscardo made his senior club debut on 28 June 2023 when he came on as a substitute in a 3-0 win against Liverpool Montevideo in the Copa Libertodores. A week later he made his Brazilian Serie A debut where his club lost 1-0 to Red Bull Bragantino.
International career.
The young Brazilian has represented his country’s youth level and he is aiming for a senior team call up in the coming years. Gabriel has also received a call up in the Brazil preliminary squad that will be participating in 2024 Olympics games.
Style of play.
Moscardo can be termed as a near complete midfielder as his wide variety of skills allows him to play sometimes as a defensive or creative midfielder despite his young age.
Moscardo uses his physical strength together with his technical gift to influence opposition’s next action. His ability to bully players and regain possession and also being able to dribble and carry the ball forward demonstrates his physical power and technical gift. This versatility and smart movements in the game allows him to be a box to box midfielder.
Understandably Gabriel Moscardo has some key areas to work on. One of his weakness is that he lacks the necessary speed to keep up with the wingers when forced to defend in wide areas. The second thing is that he doesn’t offer immense direct goal threat as most of the time he plays as a defensive midfielder and this deep lying position limits him.
