Done Deal: Luciano Spalletti will become Italy’s New Coach.
Luciano Spalletti appointed as new Italy national team Coach on a contract valid until June 2026.
Luciano Spalletti replaces retired Roberto Mancini as the new Italy National team Head Coach. He signs a contract valid until June 2026 on the same role as Mancini where he will also oversee the under 2⁰ and 22 teams. He will earn a salary of £3m annually.
Luciano Spalletti will take charge in preparation for September International commitments as Italy tries to qualify for 2024 Euros. Italy are the current European Champions after defeating England at Wembley on post match penalties.
Luciano Spalletti left Napoli this summer after winning the Serie A title with Napoli.Napook had last won the Serie A title with Maradona on their team. Spalletti also spent two successful spells with Roma where he the coppa Italia twice.
Spalletti have also coached Udinese, Inter Milan, Zenit Petersburg where he won two Russian premier league titles and Empoli where he started his coaching career.He was named Serie A Coach of the season in three occasion,in 2005,2006 and 2022/23 season.
Luciano Spalletti will always be a legend of the game,as he was the one who introduced the false 9 role in modern football. In 2005,he deployed Totti,who was typically an attacking Midfielder further forward as a striker. After having much success with Totti playing forward, many coaches adopted the now known false 9 role.
Luciano Spalletti have a tough job to try and rebuild what was once the football powerhouse in Europe.Despite wining the 2020 Euros Italy have been unable to qualify for world cup in the two previous editions.
