Apple’s website hints the full-size HomePod could get Siri AI

Yesterday was a busy day for Apple’s smart home efforts. The company unveiled the HomeView smart display, the new Apple TV 4K, the HomePod mini 2, and the Apple Home Collection. All three of Apple’s new devices support Siri AI, but what about the older full-size HomePod? Thankfully, Apple’s own website suggests it may not be left out after all.

A tipster on X noticed that the product page for the second-generation HomePod was updated yesterday. Its Siri examples now use Siri AI’s gradient style, and the glow on top matches the one on the HomePod mini 2. Additionally, the alt text for the full-size HomePod image in the comparison section of Apple’s online store reads “multi-colored Siri AI glow on top”.

Big updates to the HomePod 2 product page this morning. May suggest support for Siri AI is coming.

Of course, this could just be a mistake on Apple’s part, and the company hasn’t said anything about Siri AI coming to the bigger speaker. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman did report last month that Apple plans to update the full-size HomePod “eventually”, though that could mean a new model rather than a software update.

Apple is bringing Siri AI to older Apple TV 4K models from the 2nd generation onward, so the current HomePod getting it too wouldn’t be such a stretch. Even the HomePod mini 2 won’t have Siri AI at launch, since Apple says it’s coming “in a future software update”.

Sadly, none of this matters if you’re in the EU, since Siri AI still isn’t available in the region because of Apple’s feud with European regulators, which is also why Apple says the HomeView won’t be sold in the EU at all. Gurman thinks Siri AI may reach the EU about five months after its launch elsewhere in the “absolute best-case scenario”, much like Apple Intelligence did last year.
