Rick Mark Lewis is an English professional footballer who plays as a left back for premier league club Manchester city. The gifted player can also play as a defensive midfielder or as a right back. The young starlet holds a British nationality despite having Jamaican roots due to his father. Due to most of the times being deployed as inverted fullback from the right back position, this makes him operate as a midfielder when his team has possession of the ball. This role differs from traditional full backs who are often overlapping. Due to this qualities Rico has been tipped to become the next star and the backbone of England national team defense.

Family background and early life.

Born Rick Mark Lewis was born on 21 Nov 2004 to his mother Stephanie Lewis and Rick Lewis in Bury England. His father is from Jamaica and her mother is pure British. Rico has one sister, Sacha Lewis who also plays for Manchester city women academy.

Rick Lewis is an Ex-British heavy weight boxer who holds four championships and due to this success he instilled his children the values of discipline and hard work and despite him being a retired boxer his love for boxing hasn’t died as he introduced his children to this sport in their early ages until they changed their professionalism to football. This change of sport was accelerated by his father who chose to retire early in order to help his children continue with the sporting activities they loved.

Rico Lewis spent his childhood life alongside his sister Sacha. Since his father was a boxer it was automatic that the two children received boxing training from their dad. At age of four Rico Lewis had already been thrown to the boxing ring and this endurance made him trust himself in the football field in to which he transferred successfully.

Rico Lewis started his career at Prestwich Pythons a team that was located in his neighbourhood and just at age of six he had started to attract scouts. The kids started his career as a winger later to a striker and emerged Pythons top scorer and two clubs Bolton wanderers and Manchester city started fighting for his signature but the offer that was presented to his parents was more favourable and the kids was recruited to the Manchester city academy in 2012.

Rico Lewis joined Manchester city academy at the age of eight and spent ten years with the academy before being promoted to the first team after captaining the under 18 which won the 2021-22 U18 premier league cup.

2022/23 season

Rico Lewis made his premier league debut after being named on the bench a week earlier by manager Pep Guardiola where he made an appearance against Bournemouth on 13 August 2022. Rico scored his first ever goal for the club in a UEFA champions league match against Sevilla in an emphatic 3-1 comeback and broke the record for the youngest first time starter to score a goal and also became Manchester city youngest ever champions league scorer aged 17 years and 346 day old.

Lewis has made over 20 appearance for the senior team and was in the historic Manchester city squad that achieved the treble in the 2022/23 season something that happened only once in the English football. Lewis was unused substitute in the UCL and FA finals. On August 16 2023 Lewis signed a new five years contract with Manchester city.

Rico Lewis has made several appearances for the Young Lions where he has represented the U18, U19 and U21 levels. He scored his first goal for the U18 in a draw against Wales and made his debut for the U19 in a 2-0 win against Montenegro before finally making an appearance for the U21 on 28 March 2023 where the Young Lions lost 2-1 to Croatia.

Lewis received his first senior national team call up on 13 Nov 2023 ahead of EURO 24 qualifying matches against Malta and N. Macedonia where he made his appearance against North Macedonia where the match ended 1-1 cementing the qualification of England to the Euro 24 championships. Rico was elected as the man of the match in this game.

Personal Life.

Being a private person he doesn’t share much about his lifestyle to the public and takes most of his time to do his training sessions as he is dedicated to seeing himself better than he is today in his career.

Rico Lewis enjoys playing video games and spending time with his beloved family and friends and going to vacations. Lewis is also a fan of music and fashion.
