Chelsea confirm the signing of Djordje Petrovic.
Chelsea have completed the signing of Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from MLS club New England. The 23 year old was signed at a fee of £15M and has penned down a contract that extends up to 2031. The player did his medicals yesterday and was in attendance of the match against Luton Town where Chelsea won by three goals to nil. The player has been signed to replace Kepa who left on loan to Real Madrid. The player is seen as a perfect competitor for Robert Sanchez. The new owners had this to say. “We are very pleased to welcome Petrovic to the club. His performance in MLS have earned deserved praise and recognition and have prepared him for the challenge of playing at Chelsea.”
The player is characterised as a tremendous worker a shot stopper who rarely leaves bad rebounds and exceptional at holding shots. He has also been tipped to be long term Chelsea goalkeeper and once given chance it wouldn’t be easy to displace him.
After signing the contract details the player had some few remarks to Chelsea fans “I am so happy to be at Chelsea and am really excited to get started at this club. It’s a big step for me and it’s always been a dream of mine to sign for the biggest clubs in the world.”
