Dakota Johnson dazzles in sheer lace dress at Verity premiere

Dakota Johnson’s become a familiar face in movies over the past decade and she recently wowed us with her transformation into Marilyn Monroe in the short film Flesh Impact.

And now the actress daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith is back on the big screen, appearing alongside Anne Hathaway in the movie version of Colleen Hoover’s best-seller Verity.

And with Anne — who is heavily pregnant with her third child — giving the UK premiere of the movie a miss, it was left to Dakota and co-star Josh Hartnett to walk the red carpet together.

And Dakota certainly stood out, donning a sheer beige lace dress, giving guests and crowds a flash of black lingerie by designer Fleur de Mal.

The 36-year-old star teamed the striking frock with simple gold jewellery and her long dark hair worn loose over her shoulders for the screening at London’s Curzon Mayfair.

Johnson stars in the film as Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is offered the job of a lifetime; to finish the remaining books in a series of bestsellers by Verity Crawford (Hathaway), who has been left incapacitated by a car crash.

She moves into the author’s home and soon develops romantic feelings for her husband Jeremy (Hartnett), but after uncovering a hidden manuscript penned by Verity herself, some shocking secrets about the author’s past come to light.

Except of course, you can expect more twists and turns along the way, which have sparked many theories among fans of the book about what’s really going on.

‘It’s so thrilling, it’s so ⁠sexy,” Johnson told Reuters.

‘You are constantly trying to figure out what the truth is and who the good people are and ​who the bad people are. It’s kind of a lot like life.’

Hathaway previously told E! News about some of the differences fans of the book can expect.

‘The house might not look exactly the way in your head when you read the book. For a lot of people, Verity is a blonde,’ she explained.

‘So, you just kind of hope that people will go with your version of it and let it be its own thing.’

She added: ‘It was so wonderful to have the first wave of audiences see it and have them tell us that they loved what we did. They thought that we got the spirit of the book correct and that’s been a real relief.’

Hartnett, meanwhile, who was joined on the red carpet by his wife Tamsin Egerton, praised his co-stars to the hilt during an appearance on This Morning.

‘I mean, these are two of the best actors working in Hollywood right now,’ he told Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary. ‘And the movie kind of resides on their faces, in my opinion, the way that they interact, I think, is just beautiful to watch.’

The Oppenheimer star, who lives on a farm in Hampshire with Egerton and their four children, added that it takes a strong script to lure him to Hollywood these days.

‘My life is my family life and every once in a while I come out and do something like this,’ he explained, ‘which is such an anomaly for me.’

Verity is the fourth of Hoover’s novels to reach the big screen, following previous adaptations of It Ends With Us (2024), Regretting You (2025) and 2026’s Reminders Of Him.

It will be in UK cinemas on October 2.
