Ilhan Omar’s D.C. home searched by Homeland Security investigators, sources say

Rep. Ilhan Omar‘s Washington, D.C., home was the target of a raid early Monday early morning by ICE’s examinations system, 3 sources acquainted with the examination validated to CBS News.

Sources state the examination centers on Omar’s migration documentation. The files in concern go back to Omar’s youth, including documents finished by her late daddy when she was a kid.

Homeland Security Investigations, or HSI, the department’s criminal investigative arm, is leading the examination, with the Department of Justice helping.

HSI has jurisdiction over federal offenses consisting of migration file scams, identity scams and migration advantage scams. Unlike ICE’s deportation-focused operations, HSI unique representatives perform criminal examinations and carry out federal search warrants.

In a declaration, the Justice Department verified that the HSI carried out a search warrant protected by the DOJ. The declaration stated it was “part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.”

The Minnesota Democrat is a regular target of President Trump, and border czar Tom Homan stated in September that there was an “ongoing criminal investigation” into Omar.

“I’m confirming that ICE is, yeah — look, I said months ago that there’s something that’s been reported and needs to be looked at,” Homan informed Fox News in September

Omar stated at the time that she had actually not been called in connection to any examination.

This is an establishing story and will be upgraded.
