In bodycam footage shared on Facebook by the Leawood Police Department, a small dog dragging a leash barks at an officer patrolling a residential street on Sept. 17. The cop gets out of his vehicle and says to the dog, “Hi, why don’t you go on back home?”
With the dog still barking, the officer returns to his car to follow the pooch, which leads him for a half-block to a house where he’s greeted by a bigger dog barking at him on the driveway.
A garage door is open with a light on and a car parked inside.
“Hi guys, this where you live?” the officer asks.
Owner was stuck for hours
The cop then walks up to the garage, asking the pet owner on the floor if they’re OK.
In the Facebook post, police said the person had fallen and couldn’t get up.
“The resident had been there for more than three hours,” cops said.
“Thanks to the resident’s loyal companion, our officer was able to find them and get them the help they needed.”

Cops said the resident was treated by medical personnel and was recovering at home.
The video generated plenty of comments on Facebook, with many praising the pups.
“One dog stayed to protect the owner; the other dog went to look for help,” one person said.
“My dogs would bolt and come back hours later while I’m still on the floor. Good job Pups,” another chimed in.
