Sei Network’s SEI token has gained access to a new regulated derivatives product after a US derivatives exchange certified a cash-settled perpetual futures contract. The development could broaden trading and hedging options for the token, although the listing does not guarantee fresh demand for the token or sustained price gains.
SEI Joins BTC and SOL in Regulated Perpetual Futures
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s product filings show that the SEI perpetual futures contract was certified on October 8, 2026. The filing was submitted by North American Derivatives Exchange, which operates as OG.com Markets. The exchange said it intended to list the contract by October 12.

According to the exchange’s certification document, the contract is settled in US dollars, has no expiration date and tracks the token’s spot price through a reference index. It is designed to allow traders to take long or short positions without directly holding the token. The filing also specifies margin requirements and periodic funding adjustments to help keep futures prices aligned with the underlying market.

How the CFTC-Certified Contract Could Affect SEI Trading
The certification provides a regulated venue for eligible market participants seeking exposure to SEI through derivatives. Traders may use futures to hedge existing holdings or speculate on price movements, potentially supporting additional liquidity and more varied trading strategies. However, the product’s availability alone does not establish how much institutional demand it will attract.
Perpetual futures also introduce risks beyond ordinary spot trading. Leverage can magnify losses, while funding payments and margin requirements can force traders to close positions during volatile markets. The contract’s regulatory framework offers oversight of the exchange and its product, but it does not protect traders from market losses or guarantee that the token’s price will rise.
SEI Price Rises 12% in 24 Hours as Monthly Gains Reach 58%
Market data on October 16 showed the token trading near $0.066, up approximately 12% over 24 hours. Its performance over the past seven days was up 0.27%, while it gained 58.35% over 30 days and declined 69.58% over the past year. Its market capitalization was approximately $450.7 million, with daily trading volume near $63.5 million, according to Coinucation’s market data.

The price movement coincides with growing derivatives access, but available data does not establish that the certification caused the rebound. A stronger assessment would require sustained spot volume alongside futures open interest and funding-rate data after the contract begins trading. Without that confirmation, the daily gain should not be treated as evidence of lasting demand or a confirmed trend change.
SEI ETF Filing Adds Another Institutional Market Angle
The token’s derivatives development comes as asset managers pursue exchange-traded exposure to the token. Canary Capital’s September 15 SEC filing amended its registration statement for a proposed staked the token’s ETF. The filing outlines an investment product designed to track the token’s price while potentially earning additional tokens through staking.
The ETF filing is a separate development from the futures certification and should not be mistaken for regulatory approval or a confirmed launch.
Together, the two developments show different routes through which market participants could gain exposure to SEI: derivatives trading and a proposed exchange-traded product. The next indicators to watch are the futures contract’s actual trading activity, changes in the token’s spot volume and any further regulatory updates on the ETF.
