Cesar Azpilicueta leaves Chelsea after 11 years.

Chelsea Football Club are delighted to announce the departure of Cesar Azpilicueta from the club after a spell of 11 years at the club. The player arrived in the club back in 2012 on a fee of £7M from French club Mersail football club. Making a total of 508 appearances for the London giants. The Osasuna youth graduate playing his career as a utility player in the defence line was able to register a total of 17 goals and 56 assists in his Chelsea career.

Azpilicueta, the player nicknamed “Dave” at Chelsea acquired the legendary status for the English club as he is the only player at Chelsea to have won all the trophies with the club. Having a total of 9 trophies in his name in Chelsea shirt which includes the most prestigious trophy in European football UCL cup, two times Europa league and Premier league cups, Super cup Club world cup, Capital one cup and FA cup. He holds the record for a player with most Chelsea appearances from overseas.

Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly has congratulated the player on his farewell and termed him as a warrior and a player who has left an everlasting mark at Chelsea as he was a champion and now a legend. Coaches and teammates trusted him to lead them as a captain such that his legacy will be emulated by the future.

The player was in tears on his final farewell message to Chelsea fans concluded by “It’s difficult to express with words what I feel. It has been incredible. And just thank you to everyone because it couldn’t have happened without the help of a lot of people. You called me “Dave” I always call you home.”
