Canadian super star The Weeknd, 36, just recently took pleasure in a personal supper with Hong Kong screen legend Tony Leung, 64, and his partner, starlet Carina Lau, 60.
The vocalist apparently showed up in Hong Kong a week early ahead of his 4 shows over the next 2 weekends, and it appears like he’s currently getting the VIP treatment.
On Saturday (Oct 17), Carina Lau shared pictures of their supper on Instagram, composing: “What a perfect weekend with The Weeknd!”
The trio postured versus the spectacular background of Victoria Harbour, with Tony Leung dressed delicately in a blue t-shirt and denims while The Weeknd was dressed up in black.
The supper at Cartier’s La Residence was rather the elegant affair, with meals consisting of abalone pasta, wagyu beef tenderloin with prawn, and Alba white truffle.
The Weeknd even left a handwritten message on the menu: “Thank you for an incredible night. Your friend, The Weeknd. To Carina & Tony.”
It wasn’t simply the star-studded supper that got fans talking.
When The Weeknd shared pictures of the event on his own Instagram, he apparently selected Faye Wong’s Dream Lover as the background music.
The tune notoriously included in the 1994 Wong Kar Wai movie Chungking Express, which starred Tony Leung and Faye Wong.
Coincidence? Fans definitely do not believe so.
The Weeknd has actually long been a fan of Hong Kong movie theater and music, having actually formerly shared Wong’s 1996 album Restless on social networks.
His tune option was viewed as a nod to Leung and the renowned movie.
Netizens were so shocked by the unforeseen event that some believed the pictures were AI-generated.
“I thought this was AI for a second,” commented one netizen.
Another called it a “magical crossover”while one cheekily said: “What a menu, and I’m not talking about the food, though it did look really good.”
