What’s Next, Dua Lipa?

Dua Lipa is at a fascinating crossroads in her profession. She has actually currently developed herself as one of the most identifiable global pop stars around and has actually preserved an existence in the chatter community with her relationships and her love and now her marital relationship. From the huge success of her sophomore album Future Nostalgia and the combined reception of her follow-up Radical Optimism, her approaching 4th album comes to an appealing minute. The latter might not have actually offered as much than her previous effort, however her name and similarity have both stayed pertinent and she had the ability to revive an album cycle that at first disappointed expectations. With her star power undiminished, her approaching album puts her in a special position to produce another crucial period in popular song.

Before getting ahead to album 4 nevertheless, it is essential to comprehend how she effectively altered the narrative surrounding her musical return. Radical Optimism didn’t produce any leading 10 songs in the USA, and the album missed out on the # 1 area. She remained the course, thought in the task and ultimately the tunes on this album have actually made a reputable run. Her 2024 single “Training Season” is leading the charge here, presently making a tremendous 1.6 MILLION streams a day at the time of composing. I discussed the symptom pattern that assisted make the tune go viral previously this year, and a couple of months later on the tune has actually become her greatest streamed tune of 2026, passing one billion streams.

What’s particularly appealing is that it isn’t simply the basic variation that has actually gone viral, however rather the live variation from her 2024 show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. This variation is even more significant, total with a brand-new introduction, effective live vocals, and complete orchestra– oh which variation is making Dua an extra 900k everyday streams. In my viewpoint, the Radical Optimism trip in 2025 and the accompanying live albums (she did 2 of them) are what conserved the age from being thought about a “flop” since it assisted fans and the general public at big take in the music in a various method. Together with the Albert Hall efficiency, she shot the last program in Mexico City and made it offered totally free on YouTube for fans to indulge and find. Dua’s live phase existence is extraordinary– she truly has actually come up until now from the “go lady offer us absolutely nothing” memeReally seldom do recordings from live programs do the significant numbers like “Training Season” is regularly drawing in; these kinds of releases are normally planned to please die-hard fans.

The truth that the general public is listening to the live variation of a tune that wasn’t even a leading 10 hit in America reveals that the interest exists. Could this be due to the fact that of her relationship with Callum taking control of our feeds? That may be part of it, provided the nature of the viral pattern having to do with manifesting your biggest love. And Dua has actually fed into it too. She re-released the single as an EP with both the basic and live variations of the tunes in one location to assist increase the streams– and it worked. She utilized the existing pattern of older tunes being found on TikTok to her benefit. It’s the very same pattern (and future company design if you ask me) that has actually assisted brochure tunes like “Babydoll” by Dominic Fike and “Cinderella” by Mac Miller end up being sleeper hits, as talked about in my column today. She likewise has actually shown that a tune does not need to be specified by whether it was completely valued in its designated run.

In the months considering that both the conclusion of the Radical Optimism Tour, the viral success of “Training Season”, and her marital relationship to Callum, Dua has actually been putting into her several entrepreneurial tasks while at the same time taping music for her approaching 4th studio album. A few of these tasks consist of the launch of her skin care brand name DUA by AB; a curation of talks and occasions thanks to her Service95 Book Club; and her annual Sunny Hill Festival in Kosovo where her household’s roots run deep. She’s hectic broadening her identity beyond pop fame and developing herself as a complex businesswoman. With these organization endeavors growing, there’s probably less pressure for her music to be the sole driving force behind her success which, I might envision, permits her innovative juices to stream far more efficiently. How this will impact the noise and lyrical material of her next album is hinted in a 2025 interviewwhere Dua discussed the early recording sessions of the album. She states the “sonics” of the record are influenced by remaining in love. I would’ve presumed as much. She has actually considering that shared easter eggs occasionally surrounding the next stage, consisting of sharing the image listed below of her in the studio previously this month

In her August 2026 cover story withStyle Italia Dua spoke about the parallels in between composing an album when she was looking for love versus now that she’s discovered it, even going deeper, stating that she and Callum support each other’s aspirations which she can deal with music any place he takes place to be stating … let’s not forget that when I’m not on trip writing and recording, I can be throughout the world”Essentially, whether he’s James Bond or not, they will be together and she will be dealing with music. Music that the self-proclaimed “studio rat” has let us understand is on its method. Thank God. This is specifically interesting since we are going to be seeing for the very first time simply how remaining in love has actually affected her songwriting. Returning to “Training Season”, that tune had to do with being fed up with training males on how to be gentlemen. She stated it herself, “training season’s over”, now she’s about to let us understand what that looks and seems like.
