William Ruto embarks on 10-day North Rift development tour ahead of Mashujaa Day

President William Ruto is set to embark on an extensive development tour of the North Rift region, visiting several counties to inspect ongoing projects, commission completed facilities and launch new initiatives ahead of this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The tour begins on Saturday, October 10, when the president will travel to Endebess in Trans Nzoia County to mark Mazingira Day. He is also expected to participate in the national tree-growing campaign targeting six million trees within one hour.

The programme will take him through parts of Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot and Trans Nzoia counties, with a packed schedule of infrastructure inspections, project launches, public addresses and engagements with local communities.

The tour will culminate in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where Kenya will host the national Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20.

Which projects will Ruto inspect in the North Rift?

On Saturday, October 10, Ruto will begin in Endebess, where he is scheduled to inspect the Endebess-Matumbei Road and the Mother and Child Unit at Endebess Sub-County Hospital, alongside the Mazingira Day celebrations.

On Monday, October 12, the president will visit Maaba in Tinderet, Nandi County, to commission Maraba Market. He will also inspect Meteitei Hospital and the Maraba-Kebeneti and Timboroa-Meteitei-Kopere roads before addressing residents.

Later that day, he will travel to Moiben in Uasin Gishu County to commission the Kenya School of TVET Moiben Campus. The programme will continue in Ziwa, where he is expected to commission the Ziwa Dam 2 project, inspect a road project and visit the ongoing construction of a hospital before addressing the public.

On Tuesday, October 13, Ruto will visit Kabyego in Marakwet East, Elgeyo Marakwet County, for a series of development activities, including a water project, the groundbreaking of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) hostels, the laying of a foundation stone for a market and the commissioning of a completed road.

He will also visit Kinyach in Baringo North and Baringo South in Baringo County before proceeding to Chebara in Marakwet East.

The president’s itinerary for Wednesday, October 14, includes Konyao in Kacheliba and Tapach in Pokot South, West Pokot County, followed by Sibanga in Cherangany and Kiminini in Trans Nzoia County. He is expected to inspect and launch various development projects, including roads and markets.

On Thursday, October 15, Ruto will visit Chepkorio in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County, followed by Eldama Ravine and Kabarnet in Baringo County. The day’s programme will also take him to Iten in Keiyo North, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

How will Ruto’s tour benefit residents ahead of Mashujaa Day?

On Friday, October 16, the president will visit Sigor in West Pokot County, where he is scheduled to issue 4,660 title deeds to residents of Mwino A and Mwino B, alongside other activities.

He will then proceed to Kapenguria to issue a further 6,833 title deeds to local residents before travelling to Kwanza and Kitale in Trans Nzoia County.

The programme continues on Saturday, October 17, with visits to Kaiboi in Mosop and Nandi Hills town in Nandi County. At Koitalel Samoei University College, Ruto is expected to commission an administration building and lay the foundation stone for student hostels, among other activities.

He will then head to Eldoret, where he is scheduled to commission the completed Kapseret Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) Market, launch the Pioneer Affordable Housing Programme and commission the 64 Champions Modern Market.

The day will culminate in a major public rally in Eldoret, the president’s home city.

On Sunday, October 18, Ruto will attend a church service at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Kapsabet, Nandi County, where he is also expected to commission the church’s new plaza. He will proceed with development engagements elsewhere in the county later that afternoon.

The president will hold meetings with various delegations at Eldoret State Lodge on Monday, October 19, ahead of the national celebrations.

On Tuesday, October 20, Ruto will lead Kenyans in marking Mashujaa Day at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret. The national celebrations will be co-hosted by Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.
