Enter if you dare: Scarehouse Windsor is back to make Halloween season a little more terrifying. The McDougall Street haunt returns with five chilling attractions designed to test even the bravest visitors from Sept. 11 to Oct. 31. Want to make a night of it? OV on the go: Ford City is putting a fresh spin on a Windsor classic with the second annual OV Fest pub crawl on Saturday, Sept. 12. from noon to 11 p.m. Hit five neighbourhood stops — International Tavern, Sawyers Craft BBQ, Circuit, Cookie Bar and Browns — and sample each bar’s own take on OV from pints to cocktails and slushies. Collect a stamp at each stop to enter a prize draw. Cheers to that.

Run the river: Lace up for the Windsor Waterfront Half Marathon on Sunday, Sept. 13. The certified, timed course follows the waterfront past parks and the Hiram Walker distillery, with music, spectators and cheering stations along the route. Kid central: Children’s Fest takes over Central Park Athletics (3400 Grand Marais Rd. E.) Sept. 12-13 with a weekend built entirely around having fun. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Windsor, the festival features hands-on activities, interactive experiences, games, live entertainment, food and plenty more for young visitors. Admission is $5 per person, with children under two free; a weekend pass is $8. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Paws for celebration: The Windsor/Essex Humane Society marks a century of caring for animals with a 100th birthday open house Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The family-friendly celebration features local vendors, a barbecue, a Windsor police K9 demonstration, doggie fashion show and visits from Bluey and Bingo. Guests can also tour the shelter, meet the team and take part in activities marking 100 years of animal care in Windsor-Essex.
